What are my responsibilities?

You will join this dedicated team of volunteers who staff the Kare Bears House during business hours. You will interact with residents in-person or by phone to provide them with the various Kare Bears services. You will also enter their service requests into our computer system.

Residents come in to borrow medical equipment - such as canes, walkers or wheelchairs. You will assist the resident in choosing an appropriate item, then complete the loan process with them and on the computer.

Residents typically call in to request medical transportation rides, but they could also come in to the House. You will gather all the pertinent information for the ride, and create the computer entries, which notify our drivers to sign up to handle the ride.

Office staff also answer resident questions about Kare Bears services and events - and serve as the "face" of Kare Bears to our clients

What you should know if you are interested in becoming an office volunteer

• Volunteer shifts are for 3 hours - 9 am to Noon or Noon to 3 pm
• You choose how often you volunteer at Kare Bears House
• You choose what days and shifts you will work
• Strong interpersonal and phone skills are valuable
• Computer experience is helpful. Training is provided.
