Volunteering
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Kare Bears. All of our services and administration are provided by volunteer PebbleCreek neighbors. There is a job for everyone. We have over 10,000 residents here in PebbleCreek and are growing every day. We would love to have YOU join the group of wonderful volunteers who help make the Kare Bears organization so fantastic.
Board of Directors
(Estimated time commitment: 10-20 hours per month - varies by position)
The Board of Directors governs and manages the organization. A President, two Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer comprise the Executive Committee. Four additional Board members oversee operational committees.
Coordinators
(Estimated time commitment: 1-3 hours per month - varies according to residents)
Acts as a liaison between a neighbor in need of assistance and the services offered by Kare Bears. Makes visits, lends a kare-ing ear, sends a get well card, provides a list of resources and informs residents of FREE services. Coordinators also deliver welcome packets to new residents. Its a great way to meet your neighbors! Training will be provided.
(you do not need to live in the Unit to be its coordinator)
Drivers
(Estimated time commitment: 2-4 hours per month - certainly more if you wish)
Use your vehicle to transport residents to and from medically related appointments - doctor/dentist visits, therapy, etc. Mileage reimbursement is provided by Kare Bears. The program offers this service to our neighbors for occasional such needs, but not for recurring appointments of a repetitive nature. We do not provide transportation for shopping or other non-medical visits. Kare Bears can advise residents about other transportation resources for recurring appointments, or non-medical trips.
Office Volunteer
(Estimated time commitment: minimum shift of 3 hours per month - certainly more if you wish)
Answer phones, loan medical equipment and coordinate transportation for medical appointments, etc.
Personal computer knowledge is a plus but not a requirement.
You will be provided with the required training.
Source Book Delivery
(Estimated time commitment: One day in January or February)
Kare Bears volunteers deliver the PebbleCreek Source Book each Spring. You will pickup books at Kare Bears House and deliver them to assigned addresses (typically about 70 or so).
